Shh in the media
Shh... The Adult Fun Spot has sure had more than our fair share of media attention since we opened our establishment in 2015.
The Shh family are strong believers and advocates for our Industry, and the rights for all persons working in the adult industry to do so safely, have complete choice and be offered protection & support within the industry. While we are a part of an industry struggling for social acceptance, and often portrayed in a negative light, there is a curiosity in our society to find out more about our industry, people want to know more than what is often portrayed in TV shows and news bulletins. Here is some of our media appearances.

Life with the hookers of Hawera - (Mini Documentary) The Spinoff - May 24th 2018 Source: The Spinoff When I first met Nicky years ago, we clicked. She, the tattooed former prostitute-turned-madam, living in a town most would call a pit stop. Me, the TV reporter with a fascination for brothels, dropping into her world for a few days. Most people employed a ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ policy when it came to Shh… and what happened in their rooms next to the hairdresser and the dentist on Union Street. They didn’t mind the hookers at all. The majority of the attacks came from screen warriors – who would never get out from behind their computers to do anything of consequence anyway...... read more & watch the documentary |

Brothel owner to add touch of class Taranaki Daily News - 4th May 2015 Source: www.pressreader.com Nicky Hughes has taken over the brothel formerly known as the G-Spot and rebranded it with the equally apt Shh. Hughes said she was taking on the venture because she felt there was a clear gap in the market. "It is something I have talked about doing for about six years," she said. But with the recent closure of the one in Hawera and another in Whanganui, the timing just seemed right. "It is a service industry this community needs. If it wasn't we wouldn't be opening the doors." For the last few weeks friends and family have helped Hughes revitalise the ageing second-story business to..... read more | ![]() |
